Metalworking & Stamping

Metalworking & Stamping

Stamping dies and punch presses leave minimal clearance for part ejection and scrap removal. Standard conveyors cannot fit into the die bed area. Low profile conveyors can.

Conveyor Technologies' low profile frame height allows conveyors to slide directly beneath stamping dies to catch parts and scrap immediately after ejection. This eliminates manual part handling and reduces die area congestion.

Sealed, maintenance-free bearings withstand the oil, coolant, and metal debris common in stamping environments without requiring lubrication. For over 40 years, we've manufactured precision conveyors in Milford, Ohio. Engineering support is provided directly by our technical team.

Backed by a 10-year warranty on all conveyor frames.

Press Automation

Low profile conveyors position directly beneath stamping dies to receive finished parts as they eject from the tooling. The compact frame height fits into clearances where standard conveyors cannot operate.

Parts land on the belt surface and transport away from the die area without manual intervention. This reduces operator reach into the press zone and maintains consistent cycle times. Belt materials include urethane and rubber compounds selected based on part weight, surface finish requirements, and oil exposure.

For delicate or finished parts requiring surface protection, flat belt configurations provide smooth transport without marking. Timing belt options maintain precise part spacing for downstream inspection or packaging operations. Custom belt widths and conveyor lengths accommodate specific die dimensions and discharge requirements.

Slugs, chips, and scrap metal accumulate in the die area during stamping operations. Low profile conveyors evacuate this material continuously, preventing buildup that interferes with die function or part quality.

Conveyor positioning beneath the scrap chute or die opening captures material as it falls. Cleated belt configurations transport scrap up inclines to collection bins or shredders. Belt materials resist cutting and abrasion from sharp metal edges.

For applications involving cutting oil or coolant, wire mesh belt conveyors allow fluid drainage while transporting solid scrap. Sealed bearings prevent contamination from metal particles and maintain operation without lubrication in debris-heavy environments.

Scrap conveyor lengths and discharge heights are configured to match bin positions and facility layouts.

The low profile frame height is engineered specifically for under-die installation. This allows conveyor mounting within the die bed, bolster plate area, or press frame where vertical clearance is measured in inches.

End-drive configurations position the motor and gearbox outside the die area, maximizing usable belt width within tight spaces. Center-drive options distribute the drive mechanism along the conveyor length for applications where neither end has clearance for motor mounting.

Frame construction uses extruded aluminum for strength at minimal height. Mounting options include direct bolting to press frames, adjustable stands for freestanding installation, and custom brackets for specific die configurations.

Conveyor width, length, and belt speed are specified based on die dimensions, part size, and cycle rate requirements.

Low profile conveyors integrate with progressive die operations, transfer presses, and robotic cells where parts move between multiple stations automatically.

In progressive die applications, conveyors receive parts from final stations and transport to inspection, packaging, or secondary operations. Timing belt systems maintain part orientation and spacing for robotic pick-and-place or vision inspection downstream.

For transfer press lines, multiple conveyors position beneath sequential dies to handle parts at each station. Conveyor speeds synchronize with press cycle rates to maintain material flow without accumulation or gaps.

Integration with press controls enables start/stop synchronization, fault detection, and cycle counting. Standard mounting patterns and drive interfaces support connection to PLC systems and plant automation networks.
